T-Minus: 8 Days

One week plus one day to the wedding ceremony.

Today I make the bulletins. Hundreds of pages of printing and cutting and printing and cutting.

Earlier this morning I faxed in the table layout for the reception, though Susanne had to call me this morning as I forgot the fax number for the hall at her apartment. Yesterday I spent most of the day connecting my stereo system at her apartment. I was amazed that I was able to fit 122.3 lbs of stereo speakers plus cables and one 700-watt amplifier into my Mustang (re: travel lightly) all at the same time.

I am almost 100% connected, but wiring the apartment is a bit trickier than wiring my basement. Now I need:

couplers (due to unfortunately short cables)

twist-end thingies (due to unfortunate past shortenings of helpfully long cables)

cord concealers (due to the unfortunate profusion of both unfortunately short and helfpully long cables)

Oh yes. T-Minus: 8 Days. Ensuring proper digital surround sound connection with DVD player far more important than anything else.

A cure for what ails ya

I love the band Extol, and have for years. I, like much of the metal community, was thrown when I heard tracks from their first and utterly brilliant album, Burial.

It saddened me deeply to hear that Christer Espevoll and Ole Borud--both of Extol's brilliant guitarists--had left the band, even though Tor Magne S. Glidje and Ole Halvard Sveen from Lengsel picked up the axe duties. I've been checking out the reviews to find out if the album is any good--no offense, Tor and Ole, since Lengsel (and your work on Extol's Synergy) was excellent--but line-up changes do funny things to a band, right?

Well, here's by far the best review of an album I have ever read. It's utterly incomprehensible, but as far as I can understand the best metal albums work like a particularly explosive anti-flu decongestant/expectorant, though the review's excellent final line includes a misspelling which makes it seem much more likely that one is taking one's "flue" out for a stirring jog:

"To exercise the flue demon you are strongly advised to utilize Extol!!"
